Get your own 585 number
A 585 number can be obtained in two ways. With its plan, a provider assigns a new number that you pick at sign-up from the numbers it already has in the code. Sellers post numbers they already hold, often with a pattern, at a one-time price. You then move the number you picked to a provider.
