1. 1947: 314 counted among the original 1947 area codes, serving Creve Coeur, Kirkwood and Ladue.
2. 1947: 816 counted among the original 1947 area codes, serving Adrian, Agency and Amazonia.
3. 1950: 417 began service as a new area code, covering Aldrich, Alton and Anderson.
4. 1996: 573 was split away from 314, serving Advance, Altenburg Frohna and Annapolis.
5. 1997: 660 was split away from 816, serving Albany, Allendale and Alma.
6. 1999: 636 was split away from 314, serving Antonia, Augusta and Cedar Hill.
7. 2022: 557 was added as an overlay on top of 314, covering the same area.
8. 2023: 975 was added as an overlay on top of 816, covering the same area.
9. 2024: 235 was added as an overlay on top of 573, covering the same area.
