Where Nevada's area codes came from

Nevada had only 702 for 51 years, before 775 came along in 1998.

1. 1947: 702 was among the original 1947 area codes, covering Coyote Springs, Glendale and Indian Springs.
2. 1998: 775 was split away from 702, serving Alamo, Austin and Baker.
3. 2014: 725 came in as an overlay of 702, covering the same area.
